7.  ‘Μου είπε’, ‘Του είπα’!

Λάθος: He said to me that he would come early.

Σωστό: He told me that he would come early.

Γιατί told; Επειδή υπάρχει προσωπικό αντικείμενο.

Γιατί  say; Επειδή δεν υπάρχει προσωπικό αντικείμενο.

She said that she would buy a new car. ( Δεν υπάρχει προσωπικό αντικείμενο)

She told him that she would buy a new car. (Υπάρχει προσωπικό αντικείμενο – him)

Οταν ζητάμε ευγενικά από κάποιον να κάνει κάτι για μας:

Δε λέμε: I told my wife to iron my shirt.

Λέμε: I asked my wife to iron my shirt.
