Τα βακτήρια (bacteria), οι ιοί (viruses), οι μύκητες (fungi), και τα πρωτόζοα (protozoa) είναι οι τέσσερις τύποι (των) μικροβίων (germs).

Κάτι σημαντικό για τους προχωρημένους αγγλομαθείς.. (λέξεις από τα Ελληνικά ή Λατινικά):

Η λέξη ‘bacteria’ είναι στον πληθυντικό αριθμό. Ο ενικός είναι ‘bacterium’. Επίσης, fungus – fungi, protozoan – protozoa.

Μερικές ακόμα τέτοιες λέξεις είναι:

Medium – media, datum – data, curriculum – curricula, memorandum – memoranda, agendum – agenda, radius – radii, oasis – oases

Παραδείγματα χρήσης:

• Unwashed hands collect <germs>
• Disinfectant contains chemicals that kill <bacteria>.
• <Germs> make us sick.
• Soap and water cleans <germs> away.
• You can tackle (αντιμετωπίζω) salmonella and other <bacteria> with vinegar. (στην ποδοσφαιρική διάλεκτο, η λέξη ‘τάκλιν’, προέρχεται από το ρήμα ‘tackle’)
• Use bleach diluted (αραιωμένο) in water to kill <bacteria> in your home (bleach: μπορεί να είναι χλωρίνη, οξυζενέ, λευκαντικό κλκπ.)
